
Reading Overview:
Our reading program will
include many facets, including:

Read Alouds: Teacher
reads books aloud modeling fluency and the use of reading strategies such as
questioning and predicting.

Shared Reading: Explicit
whole group lessons based upon grade level content standards. May
include comprehension or fluency strategies using picture books, poems, big
books, songs, anthologies, or articles.

Guided Reading: 15-20
minute small group in-depth lessons using leveled reading books.

Independent Reading: Students
read self-selected books and track their reading with Think Books and
periodic book conferences.

Supplemental Support:
Students requiring additional assistance will have additional small group
instruction with explicit focus on target skills in the classroom for 20-30
minutes daily.

Intervention Support: Additional,
intensive intervention with systematic, explicit instruction focused on
target skills provided by Title I or Resource Teachers.
